MEETING 2 - OPEN SOURCE

Monday 7th July, 10.30 am - 12.30 pm

Kindly hosted by Intellect, 20 Red Lion Street, London WC1R 4QN

The next meeting of EURIM's Open Source Subgroup will take place on Monday 7th July from 10.30 - 12.30 am at Intellect's offices, 20 Red Lion Street, London WC2R.  All members of EURIM's modernising government group are welcome to attend.  The purpose of the meeting is to review the draft paper on Open Source which the drafting group has put together from various submissions.  See http://www.emma.fryer.btinternet.co.uk/oss-brief05.htm or email me for a Word, text or hard copy.

The paper sets out the background and potted history of Open Source, what Open Source is and is not, summarises some recent developments both in the policy arena and the marketplace, and provides some basic facts about some of the products available.   The paper does not take a position.  The paper is supported by a glossary which will be available shortly online.

Extensive input is now needed from EURIM members to add any missing information, and to ensure that the paper is balanced.  Please, if at all possible, submit comments in advance of the meeting so that they can be collated in advance before they are tabled.  Alternatively, please raise comments at the meeting.  If you are unable to attend, please send comments by the end of Friday 4th July to me at emma.fryer@btinternet.com so that I can ensure they are tabled on Monday morning.

If you would like to attend either or both meetings, please reply to this email and I will reserve a place for you and send you meeting papers.  If you cannot attend but wish to be kept informed, please let me know and I will ensure you receive papers, minutes and future meeting notifications. Please state clearly which of the two meetings you wish to attend or receive papers for.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
